Payroll Processor and Benefits Coordinator - Franchised Restaurant Entity
Small operational office processing payroll for 20+ franchised restaurants. The ideal candidate will perform routine payroll processing functions in an in-house system and coordinate benefits for medical, dental and life insurance, and 401(k) administration. Certain administrative and accounting functions will fill out the responsibilities of this role.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coordinate processing of time from POS systems into the Great Plains payroll system for bi-weekly payroll on a weekly basis. This process covers five separate companies and 21 profit centers, with responsibilities biweekly for 600 payroll checks.
Administration of all employee documentation, from hire to termination of employment, and all steps in between.
Process payroll from gross to net biweekly, and coordinate manual checks for unreported time and terminations, and reissues for lost paychecks. Additionally, process all non-tax deductions for payment to appropriate vendors.
Prepare and make all tax deposits for federal, state and local payroll taxes, on a timely basis, and assist in coordinating all quarterly and annual governmental payroll tax filings.
Understand the regulatory rules governing garnishments, time and attendance and terminations, tips, and health care administration.
Provide customer (restaurant staff), with responses to inquiries concerning paychecks, vacation, and paid time off accruals.
Calculate and pay staff vacations and awards.
Coordinate with our banks, the process of direct deposit and positive pay for all paychecks issued.
Respond to payroll inquires from regulatory agencies, including from garnishments entities, social services agencies, loan application requests and general government inquires for the census and labor departments.
Coordinate with our Health-care provider, all claims paid, back account transfers, enrollment coordination and resultant employee payroll withholdings and billing for related parties.
Process 1300 W2’s annually, including the reissue of duplicate W2s for staff members.
CANDIDATE PROFILE:
Requires a high school diploma; college degree preferred
2 years of experience in a payroll processing environment
Knowledge of general payroll policies, governmental regulations, and tax requirements
Ability to communicate effectively with a customer service attitude.
Desire to work in a small office environment, with a sense of responsibility to produce accurate and timely results for others.
Willingness to submit to a background check commensurate with the responsibilities of the job.
