California is in Pacific time, so it's three hours behind Eastern time; two hours behind Central time and one hour behind Mountain time. For example, if New York (Eastern time) is 8am in the morning, Chicago (Central time) would be 7am, Denver (Mountain time) would be 6am, Los Angeles, California (Pacific time) would be 5am in the morning.
