Urdu is spoken in Pakistan, India, and Afghanistan and by South Asian diaspora scattered throughout the world. Introductory and intermediate Urdu language classes are offered for new and native speakers at affordable rates. Classes can be customized for your specific needs. Customized examples include: parent/Child, family, and children classes; tutoring to assist current Urdu students; crash lessons for those traveling or doing research in Urdu speaking communities; and reading, writing, and grammar to native Urdu speakers familiar with Urdu.
I also have a weekly group classes geared towards conversation. These classes are not lecture oriented but maximize on the group’s collective knowledge of Urdu as well as interests and circumstances of the group members. For example, if a student in the group is studying Urdu for academic reasons and another is for conversation on the phone with family in Pakistan, grammar is emphasized as well as telephone conversations. This way, students benefit from learning from each other. Innovative language tools and techniques are used in classes to make learning fun and engaging.
I am originally from Hyderabad, India. I speak Urdu at home and have taken 3 years of Urdu at the University of Washington. Teaching Urdu is a family business. My brother Ali teaches Hindi and Urdu in New Delhi, India. My mother often assists in the group classes. I believe everyone can learn Urdu on whatever capacity that they set out for - whether for one time travel, an academic career or speaking with the in-laws.
