This boat is in great condition for a 1982. My wife and I recently purchased it to familiarize ourselves with sailing in Hawaii and are now ready to sell and shop for a bigger boat.
Its in a temporary slip 31 in Maalaea Harbor. If you purchase the boat you may retain the slip for the remainder of the month. Since it is a temporary slip an extention might be possible but is at the discretion of the Harbormaster.
This boat is a turn key operation. Everything is in perfect working order with no damage or maintenance needed. Its ready to sail away today! This was our attraction to it and we have made improvements since we bought it. We just had brand new interior put in since it was the original 82 style upholstery. Actually it was still in good condition but the color was hard to work with and my wife prefered vinyl for ease of cleaning/durablity.
The boat has a newer strong 8hp Yamaha motor that starts right up and hardly burns any fuel. All the rigging is in good shape as are the sails. There is a mainsail and a genoa sail included. We have never hooked up the electrical components but the wiring is good and just needs a battery. There is working electric bilge installed although the boat basically takes on zero water. I have hand bilged less then a few cups over in the last 2 months. There is also a VHF radio and navigation lights.
Macgregors are trailerable boats. This one has a keel (very large steel keel that makes the boat extremely stable and self righting) that easily retracts up into the hull by a cable and winch assemby in less then a few minutes. I dont have the trailer but there is one on craigslist right now that I have looked at and would buy if I was keeping the boat. See it at: http://honolulu.craigslist.org/mau/boa/1396760658.html Having the option to easily pull the boat out of the water is a great benifit for boat owners especially on Maui where harbors are limited. Its also nice for when big storms come through and for maintenance. This makes the boat capable of beaching (although we never have) or operations in shallow water. Magregors are also very safe boats. There is foam throughout the boat below the decks that allow the boat to stay afloat when fully swamped.

Because of the saftey and versatility of this boat it is perfect for the startup sailor or a seasoned sailor that wants a very low maintainence boat. The boat is configured to sleep 7 with 5 inside the cabin and 2 above deck all on the comfy thick cusioned upholstry. This makes for a great weekender boat and camping on other islands. The previous owners have sailed most of the Hawaiian islands in the boat. Its also just in time for whale season!

Custom Foul weather gear in perfect condition
Portapotty (good condition and clean. Nothing gross)
