GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT:
Working very closely with Principal Investigator and the Senior Database Manager, coordinates all activities of the Data Coordinating Center, including but not limited to: liaison between clinic coordinators and Steering Committee (SC); coordinates with Bioinformatics manager to assure that websites interfaces are working smoothly; communicates meeting agenda and any MOP updates; participating in SC meetings and calls (prepares minutes and posts these to the study website); works directly with pharmacy on blinding and distribution; coordinates drug swaps; obtains status reports from project staff on all protocols to assure timelines are met; handles long range planning and documentation of DCC operations.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Responsible for the coordination and implementation of research design process and study protocols.
2. On a daily basis, executes the procedural, managerial, and policy decisions made for the study.
3. In conjunction with the PI, function as a resource for all study issues. Identifies problems and develops solutions.
4. In collaboration with PI, develops and implements new research protocols including design, data collection systems, and institutional review board approval.
5. In collaboration with PI, prepares and may present certain portions of presentations, in addition to preparing articles for publication.
6. Serves as the primary contact for outside vendors utilized to ensure efficient operation of the study.
7. Responsible for the oversight of all supplies, equipment, and files.
8. Directly responds to inquiries regarding study protocol and policy. Serves as liaison between DCC and Clinical Centers.
9. All other duties, as assigned.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. BS OR BA
2. 3-5 years of directly related, progressively more responsible, experience.
3. Supervisory experience preferred, but not required.
4. Experience with prior clinical trial desired, but not required.
SKILLS/ ABILITIES/ COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
1. Must possess the ability to work independently and display initiative to introduce innovations to research study.
2. Must have sound interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with a wide range of professional staff (from research assistants to principal investigators).
3. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
4. Ability to prioritize tasks and set deadlines.
5. Ability to identify problems and develop solutions.
6. High degree of computer literacy.
7. Ability to demonstrate professionalism and respect for subjects rights and individual needs.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Will work primarily in an office setting at the Channing Laboratory, 181 Longwood Avenue, Boston, MA, but should be able to commute between different buildings in the Longwood Medical Area and Landmark Center.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
Responsible for directly supervising Clinical Coordinators and Research Assistants in the Clinical Centers. Coordinates staffing and schedule.
