The purpose of the position is to lead research projects in support of small molecule discovery for the treatment of Parkinsons disease.Key Tasks & ResponsibilitiesThe ideal candidate must have a proven track record in the field of molecular and cellular neurodegeneration, preferably in Parkinsons Disease.The scientist will lead a research team of 0-2 reports to develop cell-based models in support of drug discovery efforts for the treatment of Parkinsons disease. The candidate will also support target validation efforts for Parkinsons disease.Specific responsibilities include:Independently designs and executes experimental strategies to develop in vitro models for molecular drug targets relevant for Parkinsons disease by applying biochemical and cell-biological methods.Independently designs and executes experimental strategies to validate novel targets for Parkinsons disease.Supports cross-functional project teams.Provides guidance for direct reports to achieve project goals. Assumes responsibility for timely completion of project goals.Effectively communicates with supervisor and team members. Reports research findings in oral presentation and written reports. Is expected to publish scientific work as primary author.Acquires/maintains up-to-date knowledge of Parkinsons disease.
