Regular, Full-Time, RCUH Non-Civil Service position with the Cancer Research Center of Hawaii (CRCH), Prevention and Control Program, Na Mikimiki Project, located in Honolulu, Hawaii. Continuation of employment is dependent upon program/operational needs, satisfactory performance, and availability of funds.

MINIMUM MONTHLY SALARY: $2,189.00.

DUTIES: Responsible for measuring and tracking physical activity assessments for study participants. Manages and performs data collection, entry, and verification. Assists with recruitment, screening eligibility of study participants, data collection, data management, and field activities for a randomized clinical trial testing the efficacy of an intervention to increase and maintain physical activity in mothers of infants.

PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: Bachelors Degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university in Public Health, Psychology, Exercise Science, Physical Education, Kinesiology or other related fields. EXPERIENCE: One to three (1-3) years of experience with progressively responsible related work. Previous experience in assessment of fitness/physical activity or other lifestyle factors and collecting survey data (in person and via telephone) across time from study participants. ABIL/KNOW/SKILLS: Knowledge of the methods, procedures, techniques, and assessment strategies used in health behavior research. Knowledge in physical activity behavior. Ability to communicate effectively through verbal and written communication skills. Ability to assess and interact with sedentary women, particularly new mothers. Demonstrated computer skills including word processing, spreadsheet, and databases. Must possess a valid driver’s license and own means of transportation to travel to various sites as needed. Be a Basic Life Support Provider or possess the American Red Cross Certification for CPR (or be able to obtain the certificate following the training provided). Must be able to pass a post-offer criminal background check. Must obtain CPR Certification if not already certified. PHYSICAL AND/OR MEDICAL DEMANDS: Able to carry and transport up to twenty-five (25) pounds.

SECONDARY QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s Degree from an accredited college or University in Public Health, Health Education, Physical Activity/Kinesiology, Psychology or related field (or equivalent 1-2 years post-bachelor’s degree research experience). ACSM certification as an Exercise Specialist. Familiarity with Hawaiian and Asian ethnic groups strongly preferred. Previous experience in data management in a research setting. Familiarity with and interest in research literature on health behavior change, fitness, and physical activity.
