CRCH RESEARCH LABORATORY TECHNICIANID# 29371. Cancer Research Center of Hawaii (CRCH). Regular, Full-Time, RCUH Non-Civil Service position, located in Honolulu, Hawaii. Continuation of employment is dependent upon program/operational needs, satisfactory work performance, and availability of funds.
MINIMUM MONTHLY SALARY: $2,459-$3,815/mo.
DUTIES: Uses advanced laboratory methodology and instrumentation to process and cryopreserve biological specimens. Recruits study participants, administers informed consent, and collects blood and other biological specimens at clinic sites, participantshomes or other sites as needed. Assists in maintaining a complex biorepository. Retrieves specimens from a complex cryostorage storage system and prepares shipments. Updates participant and specimen data. Assists in designing quality control and sub-study protocols. Works with liquid nitrogen and dry ice.
PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university in Biology, Chemistry, Medical Technology, or related field. EXPERIENCE: At least one (1) year of experience working in a research or clinical laboratory. ABIL/KNOW/SKILLS: Demonstrates excellent phlebotomy skills, oral communication skills and computer skills. Must have valid Hawaii driver’s license and means of transportation appropriate for the position. PHYSICAL/MEDICAL REQUIREMENTS: Fine motor coordination skills required. Able to stand for long periods of time, carry thirty (30) pounds, push/pull forth forty (40) pounds on a cart.
SECONDARY QUALIFICATIONS: Experience in research and in collecting specimens in the field. Experience working with cancer patients, and patients for whom English is a second language. Familiarity with local ethnic cultures.
