Fixed-term research position on Kauai using molecular diagnostic tools to evaluate parasitism of insect pests in Hawaiis crops.
Based on DNA sequences from mitochondrial and nuclear genes, multiplex PCR assays will be used to determine the identity of parasites found in field-collected insects. This will assist us in evaluating biological control agents, and will complement ongoing ecological and behavioral studies. Primer development and preliminary assays have already been conducted.
