CRCH LAB SUPPORT ASSISTANT ID# 29447. Cancer Research Center of Hawaii. Regular, Full-Time, RCUH Non-Civil Service position with the Cancer Research Center of Hawaii (CRCH), located in Honolulu, Hawaii. Continuation of employment is dependent upon program/operational needs, satisfactory work performance, and availability of funds.
MINIMUM MONTHLY SALARY: $1,664/Mon.
DUTIES: Assists in the maintenance mammalian cell tissue culture and stocks. Assists in general maintenance duties in the laboratory, including making solutions, autoclaving, assisting with ordering, and maintaining laboratory compliance with the use of chemical and biological reagents. Assists in molecular biology techniques such as PCR, restriction digests, gel electrophoresis, plasmid prep, nucleic acid purification, transfections, and fluorescent in situ hybridization. Transports samples for DNA sequencing and picks up reagents such as oligonucleotides and chemicals.
PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: High School Diploma and at least one (1) year of college experience. EXPERIENCE: Up to one (0-1) year of experience in biology/molecular biology techniques (eg. gel electrophoresis, restriction digest, PCR, microscopy). ABIL/KNOW/SKILLS: Working knowledge of laboratory techniques, materials and procedures. General knowledge of cell and molecular biology. Computer literate and familiarity with word processing, spreadsheet, and graphic applications. Good verbal and written communication skills. Must possess a valid driver’s license and own insured vehicle.
SECONDARY QUALIFICATIONS: Experience in fluorescent microscopy, molecular cloning, or other molecular biology laboratory skills desirable.
