Research Associate, Scientific Services

The Research Associate, Scientific Services, will provide technical and scientific support in the areas of research animal handling, and sample and data collection on research studies. Ideal candidates will have a professional demeanor and high standards, a friendly ‘can doattitude, enjoy physical work, have the ability to multi-task and be extremely detail oriented. This position will require the ability to work as part of a team on a rotating weekend schedule.
Main responsibilities include:
Follow and perform standard operating procedures (SOP) & Protocols on study animals, including, but not limited to: clinical observations, body weights, urine collection, tattoos, administering injectable anesthesia, mating procedures, blood draws (all routes), dose administration (all routes), euthanasia, catheter placement, lifting (20lbs + above head), animal handling, enrichment, some husbandry tasks (e.g., feeding, food count, food removal).
Support SNBL USA’s animal welfare and care programs and actively participate in these programs.
Maintain Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) while following written and verbal instructions, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Protocols, and Daily Schedules.
Record and enter raw study data while maintaining accurate paper work.
Reads and performs laboratory protocols, and assays or tests as assigned.
Operate selected laboratory equipment (i.e., Balances, Harvard pump, Digital Thermometer).
Support of other Work Groups as needed.
Education, Experience & Skills:
High school diploma or equivalent required, BS/BA in scientific discipline preferred.
6+ months of related animal handling experience.
Experience working in a regulated environment is preferred.
Good oral, written, computer, and problem solving skills are essential.
This is a physically demanding position. Applicants will be required to pass an occupational health physical which will require the ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a continuous basis.
