Microbiologist - Isolation Characterization Development
Ph D in microbiology with three year industrial experience with focus on isolation, characterization of bacterial cultures, optimization of cultures/consortium, biosurfactant production, biofilm and biodesulfurization.
Strong oral and written communication is required.
Position Requirements
Perform basic and advanced procedures in routine microbiology areas of a lab
Develop isolation techniques for specific cultures applicable to oil production enhancement
Develop methods for culture identification using MIDI or DNA methods
Develop methods for bacterial count using convention plating and serial dilution techniques
Write and execute study protocols, methods and SOPs
Exhibit good fundamental laboratory skills
Setting up, operating, and maintaining laboratory instruments.
Identify problems and implement solutions as directed
Actively participate in a team environment
This role will handle multiple priorities; require a high level of quality service, and strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to be highly motivated, a self-starter, and self-directed is required.
Knowledge of anaerobic techniques is preferred and experience in culture isolation is desirable. The candidate must able to develop thermophilic anaerobic plating techniques for isolation and enumeration.
Required Education/Experiences:
Ph D microbiology/biochemistry/biochemical engineering and minimum of two years increasing technical experience in a research laboratory preferably in oil industry
