Optomec currently has an open position for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer with Semiconductor Equipment design experience. Ideal candidate will be an outstanding technical leader and a hands-on individual who demonstrates innovative design skills and the drive to complete projects on time. The candidate will provide a technical lead over projects focused on developing next generation printing solutions for industrial applications using liquid based materials. Primary responsibilities include the design and development of automation solutions, printing sub-systems, and other processing equipment for advanced, material printing applications. Education / Experience (required):
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (or equivalent) with 5-7 years experience in design of complex electromechanical systems for industrial applications. A Master’s degree is desired. An in-depth understanding of mechanical design processes is required. Knowledge in pneumatics, fluidics, complex control systems and automation is required. Strong verbal and written communication skills, the ability to effectively interact on multi-discipline development teams and rapid self-learning ability are essential. Project management experience and the ability to translate customer requirements into technical specifications are required. Must be pragmatic and able to focus on and communicate critical deliverables to other team members. At least 3 years of solid modeling experience using SolidWorks is necessary.
Additional Experience (desired):
Manufacture of industrial equipment, factory automation, robotics and material handling systems
In-depth familiarity with automation components and practices (motors, pneumatic actuators, displays, sensors, control systems, embedded processors, firmware)
Strong technical knowledge or experience in areas of automation, mechanical systems, programmable logic controllers (PLC) and other electrical controls systems
Experience with assembling, debugging, and testing prototype mechanical assemblies
Comfortable with the fundamentals of electrical engineering
