Survey Party Chief
Phoenix area professional engineering and survey firm is in search of qualified candidates to fill survey party chief position available. Position will be part-time to start and move to full-time as workload increases and candidates knowledge and skills are evaluated. This position will require the crew chief to work as a solo-crew, operating RTK network GPS and robotic total stations. This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity for a qualified person to join a rapidly growing company on the ground-floor.
Position Overview
Survey party chief applicants will be required to have 8+ years of experience working in the field as a party chief on highway and heavy civil construction, commercial, retail, residential and institutional projects. Applicants will be expected to work both in the office as well as the field and have solid understanding of data processing, AutoCAD and field software.
Typical duties include all field staking and survey operations, communicating with project members of the client staff and engineering and survey directors, crew preparation, coordination and calculations. Supervising various survey and construction activities, accurately reading, interpreting and understanding construction plans, specifications and addendum, and keep field notes and records and the ability to run all equipment necessary for survey activities-including robotic total stations, RTK network GPS, automatic levels, data collectors and computer software associated with surveying.
Qualifications
Preferred Education/Experience
2 or 4-year degree in construction related field (or equivalent construction related work experience) as well as 8+ years of field construction and design survey experience as a crew chief in property/boundary surveys, topographic surveys, ALTA surveys and civil design and construction.
Experience with reading and understanding plans, specifications, addendum and other related construction documents, performing necessary calculations and exceptional field note taking and documentation skills will be required.
Knowledge and experience with RTK network GPS, TDS field software, robotic total stations, automatic levels and AutoCAD skills will be required.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, familiarity with AutoCAD and other PC software packages typically associated with surveying, engineering and construction. Additional work includes field work, climbing ladders, scaffold, and work on elevated platforms, permanent ladders, work on uneven surfaces and work in confined spaces.
