I am the first and only owner of these excellent, vintage, audiophile speakers. I bought them new in 1970 - they were $280 for the pair . . when gas was 30 cents a gallon. I am a musician, singer, arranger and recording engineer, and up until now I just couldnt bear to let them go. They really sound warm, natural and accurate, and you can listem to them for hours without any listening fatigue. You may hear them in my studio before you buy. I am very interested in finding them a good home to someone who will use them often and appreciate them as I have ~ I have scaled down to just a small studio and just dont have the room anymore. .
These speakers operate perfectly and have a beautiful, balanced sound, just as originally designed. They are held in high regard to this day, and have almost a cult following. The rear speaker wire connections have been redone for direct amplifier connection (see photo). The cabinets are in fair condition with various nicks, scratches and dinged corners, so I will not ask the primo going rate ($200). They look pretty good from a distance, though, as you can see in the photos. These Rectilinears are set to go to an appreciative buyer, for $80 or best reasonable offer
Listing: ~ One pair of Rectilinear Research model 12, three way Ported Loudspeakers. They have been tested and still sound amazing, with a 10" Woofer, 4" Midrange, and 3" Tweeter in each Cabinet. The Walnut cabinets measure 14" by 25" by 11", have Midrange and Tweeter level /crossover controls on the rear panel, and weigh 34 lbs each.
