The former Vogue cover girl, 27, was the subject of American gossip reports when she was pinpointed as the ``Aussie angel'' of Texan self-made computer mogul Jim Clark, 63.

In a revealing tell-all in Women's Weekly magazine next month, Hinze admits she is in love with the internet pioneer and founder of Netscape.

Sparks began as the pair commiserated over Clark's third divorce at a New York restaurant 2 1/2 years ago, Hinze said.

``We organised a dinner for the following night. And then he said, `My boat's down in the Caribbean, why don't we get a fun group of people together?' So we all went down and had a great time, and it just developed,'' Hinze said.

In the face of the inevitable cynicism that often accompanies dating an older man, the Queensland model has been quick to assure friends and family that her feelings are sincere.

``He's an incredible man and I just love him,'' she told Women's Weekly.

``He is truly, incredibly intelligent. He's very normal and down to earth.''

A gorgeous young model and an older billionaire is a common and controversial match in celebrity circles, but Hinze says ``you can never judge a book by its cover''.

``You look at Jim and then you start peeling back layer after layer. It's endless,'' she says.
The pair have been frequently spotted on the mogul's super yacht and golf courses.

Hinze admits, however, that before they met, she never thought she would date an older man.
The granddaughter of controversial former politician the late Russ Hinze -- Queensland's minister for roads, racing and police -- Kristy experienced the pressure of the paparazzi at a young age.

By 14, the farm girl from Beaudesert was gracing the covers of fashion magazines.

So what does Kristy think it is about her that her Texan-born partner loves most?

``We're both competitive with each other,'' she explains. ``And I make him laugh. He always says that he laughs all the time with me and that's something he's never had.''

The current face of fashion label Sportscraft admits the relationship has its challenges.

Their careers have them apart for long bouts of time, but when they are in the same city ``we basically live together''.

Hinze is quick to assure that she has maintained her independence, however, referring to the Chelsea apartment in London where she is still paying off the mortgage.

``I like to make my own money and spend it myself. I'm by no means living out of his pocket and I never will be. That's just the way I am.''

Hinze, who is considering studying for a marine biology degree, will be back in Australia next month, filming a new fashion reality show Project Runway in Melbourne.
