Entering the Biggest Loser ranch as the heaviest team in history was not the greatest record to set, but twins James and John Crutchfield — weighing in at 485 and 484, respectively — were determined to shed the pounds and become the second twin ever to win the Loser grand prize. Although they each lost 23 pounds in the first week, James was eliminated, leaving he and his brother "floored," John tells TVGuide.com. "Those were great numbers and we definitely expected to be there until the end, so it was a big shock."

What was it like to lose your brother as a teammate in the first week?
It was a pretty emotional night obviously. I was really upset that night but I woke up the next day and kind of got my head clear and it was pretty good. James’s rationale was the right decision as far as the teams concerned. Being twins we definitely push each other but at the same time I think there’s something you learn on the Ranch that it has to be about you and you have to totally focus on you, so from that aspect it kind of got easier from there.

With the Super Bowl coming up this weekend, what are your snacks of choice going to be?
That was one of [the things I miss the most] — football and chicken wings. There are some good recipes out there but grilled chicken wings definitely instead of fried. Grilled, lemon-covered chicken wings are really good. I may have five or six but really I haven’t done too bad with cravings at all. I would have to say that was definitely one of my weaknesses.

What did you think about Miggy’s decision to walk 11 miles after her procedure?
She’s a tough person. She was walking and all that and it was a pretty brave thing to do. It seemed kind of scary to me especially seeing her in the gym. Dr. H had told her don’t do a lot of bigger type things, basically just walk. There was one point next to each other in the gym, she’s on the elliptical going really fast. It kind of got scary but she did really well. The Green team definitely had a good work ethic.

What is your favorite workout since you have been home?
I go with people at work to a gym we have at work. I stick strictly to the elliptical machine and I do a little bit of treadmill at home just because of knees but my favorite machine in a gym setting is definitely the elliptical. I think you can get a full body workout — arms and legs — and a better burn than just a plain treadmill.

What food changes have you made since leaving the Ranch?
Just about everything. Your taste buds really change after you leave the Ranch. Eating something salty or with sugar, it’s kind of like, “Whoa! This is crazy.” It’s almost like you can’t handle it. It’s just overbearing. Just simple things like no salt, things like Smart Balance butter every now and then instead of real butter, a lot of chicken breast, a lot of fish, and vegetables. There’s some really great tasting recipes out there.

How much weight have you lost as of today?
My upper body has actually gotten pretty big to the point where we’re kind of going to go on a route of doing a ton more cardio. I don’t want to be too muscular because this is a maintenance thing I’m trying to get to. I’m still well over 100 pounds lost so far, but the exact number I kind of keep secret. I think it will be noticeable when I show up on TV.
