North Korea has sent a provocative shot to America and the West by firing a series of scud-like missile on July 4th - American independence day.
Reports say at least five ballistic missiles were fired each with a range of just over 300 miles.
Both Japan and South Korea have denounced the firing of the missiles as an 'act of provocation' as the hermit-state is banned from all ballistic missile-related activities after conducting their most recent round of underground nuclear tests in May.
A South Korean defence spokesman said: 'Thursday's missile tests were apparently made as part of a military drill but today's launches, which came on the eve of the US Independence Day, are believed to be aimed at political purposes.'
Even though the missiles are considered short-range it will no doubt ratchet up the pressure on the peninsular as it brings most of South Korea into striking distance.
There are fears that's military chiefs in North Korea are trying to produce nuclear warheads to put on missiles.
Last month, North Korea said any UN inspections of its land, sea or air shipments suspected of carrying any prohibited weapons and would be treated as a declaration of war.
