Halloween is fast approaching, and buying a ready-made costume can mean you'll spend a lot of money and maybe meet your twin at a party. Here are some costumes you can make that are quick and easy, and don't cost a lot of money.
Tree
A tree requires a brown shirt or sweatshirt and brown pants (or whatever color tree trunk you want to have). Buy some fake branches and/or leaves and hot-glue or safety pin them to your arms. On your head you can wear a small wreath, bunches of leaves, or even a bird, with or without a nest.
Flower Garden
A garden can be either green or brown clothes. Purchase some fake flowers, and cut or pull off the heads. Hot-glue or pin them in rows across your clothes. This can also be done with plastic fruit or vegetables, but it may be harder to find ones light enough to stay attached to your clothes. Garden gnome optional.
Laundry Basket
Buy an inexpensive plastic laundry basket. Cut out enough of the bottom so that you can fit it around your head and waist, then attach twine or material for shoulder straps. Place clothes (preferably clean) in the basket once you put it on. Clothing can be inconspicuously tied to the basket if you're afraid of losing your clothes.
Silhouette/Cameo
This is probably the easiest costume. Dress all in black and use black face paint to cover one side of your face, including the ear and any part of your neck that shows. You can use temporary black spray-on hair color to darken your hair, wear a black wig, or leave it as is. Turn sideways to show off your look. If you like, carry an empty frame with you and hold it up in front of you when you turn. You could also do this costume in white and be a cameo.
Road
A road requires plain black clothes and some yellow and white electric tape. Use the tape to make road lines up the vertical length of your body. You can make a sign to carry around too, like "No Passing Zone" or a speed limit.
