Former NJ Net basketball player Richard Jefferson backed out of his wedding to fiancee Kesha Ni'Cole Nichols on short notice
Jefferson was reportedly due to marry former New Jersey Net dancer Kesha Ni'Cole Nichols but he broke off the engagement at the 11th hour. Jefferson pulled out of the wedding - which cost $2 million to plan - that was slated to be held at the posh Mandarin Oriental in Columbus Circle.
Jefferson's decision to pull the plug on the ceremony was so last minute that some of the guests invited had already shown up at the wedding, the Post reported.
Jefferson, formerly of the Nets, was recently traded from Milwaukee to San Antonio and evidently also broke off his engagement at the same time. Nichols was able to find the time to tell her friends and relatives not to show up.
"He called about two hours before the wedding. It was nuts," one Jefferson pal told the Post.
A friend of Jefferson told the tabloid he was informed by Jefferson two hours before the ceremony, that there would be no wedding.
On the bright side, it turned out not to be an overall bad night for the Jefferson camp.
The ex-Net reportedly gave his groomsman his Black Amex credit card to use for the night. Well, la-dee-da.
Nichols checked in to the hotel on what was to have been her wedding day, and was upgraded to a suite on the 45th floor with a king-sized bed and a Central Park view, according to a source at the Mandarin.
