Under the supervision of the Child Care Site Director or Site Coordinator, the Afterschool Counselor/Child Care Teacher will be responsible for overseeing 10 to 14 school-age children (Pre-K to 5th grade) and engaging in daily activities and recreation.
Job responsibilities include:
•Checking children in daily, verifying attendance and safety
•Engaging in daily activities, including, but not limited to sports, games, recreation, homework assistance, arts and crafts, service projects, etc.
•Attending bi-monthly staff meetings
•Weekly curriculum planning
•Creating and maintaining strong relationships with parents, staff and children
•Creating monthly enrichment opportunities for children afterschool. Example include: Soccer Club, Cooking Club, Art Club, Gardening Club, Movie Making Club, Theater Club, Science Club, Nature Club, Comic Book Club, Painting Club, etc.
Requirements:
2 units in ECE or Child Development (Applicants with less than 12 units in Child Development, NEED NOT APPLY)
months experience working with children ages 4 to 12
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills
•Must love working with children 4 years-old to 12 years-old and their families.
•Current CPR and First Aid
•Candidates must be able to commit until the end of June 2010, but we strongly prefer candidates who are looking to advance in Child Care and remain a member of the team year-around.
•Hours are typically between 7:00 am and 6:00 pm with additional staff meetings and trainings. 20 to 25 hours/per week.
•Full time hours available during winter, spring and summer vacation. We have morning shifts (6:45 am to 11:00 am), mid-day shifts (11:00 am to 3:00 pm) and afterschool shifts (2:00 pm to 6:00 pm).
