Partnerships to Uplift Communities (PUC) is a non-profit charter school management organization designed to significantly increase college entrance and graduation rates for underserved students in Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley. PUC operates a growing network of small, public charter schools and will create more schools in high-need communities in coming years.

We are currently looking for Tutors for Excel Middle School located in Downtown Los Angeles. The Tutor will provide assistance with tests, homework, and after school activities. This a great learning experience for anyone interested in joining the Teaching or Special Ed field.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and foster a safe and nurturing learning environment
- Provide support to students with their homework
- Prepare instructional, display, and work materials
- Prepare and supervise after school activities
- Participate in professional development training, if necessary
- Perform other related duties as assigned
The ideal candidate:
- Will have a willingness to learn, patience, and detail oriented
- Proficient in MS Office and office equipment
- Bilingual in Spanish preferred but not required
- Must have prior experience working with students in a learning environment
- Strong Math skills (must be proficient in Algebra I & II and Geometry)
- Enforce safety and disciplinary procedures and rules
- Work cooperatively with teachers and other staff personnel
- Establish good relations with individual students and groups
- Communicate and relate effectively with students, teachers, and parents
