COMPANY INTRODUCTION:

The Academic Advantage is an in-home tutoring program specializing in one-on-one instruction for students grades K through 12. We tutor all academic subjects including standardized test preparation.
We provide private tutoring to both private and public school students. We also offer tutoring for students who qualify for Supplemental Educational Services through the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) program.
We are actively hiring tutors in various cities throughout the US.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Sessions occur at the student’s home or at a preferred location, such as a public library.
All tutoring takes place in a one-on-one environment.
This is a part-time position, and we work around the tutor’s schedule.
Tutors work part-time anywhere from 2-25 hours a week; the amount of hours per week depends on the tutor’s schedule, what subjects they can tutor, and the amount of hours they prefer.
Where a tutor lives or goes to school determines which area they will tutor in.
Most tutoring takes place Monday through Thursday between the hours of 4:00pm and 9:00pm. Weekend tutoring hours can also be arranged with students at various times.
Tutors work with the same students on a weekly basis.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS NEEDED TO APPLY:

A reliable personal automobile (except in the New York City area)
Consistent Internet access
Pass criminal background check
Have a background it tutoring Chemistry or have a Bachelors degree in Chemistry

COMPENSATION:

Tutoring student in the No Child Left Behind Program
$17.50 per hour for tutorials less than 2 hours
$16.00 per hour for tutorials 2 hours or more
Most tutorials are less than 2 hours

Tutoring Private Clients
$18.00 per hour for tutorials less than 2 hours
$16.50 per hour for tutorials 2 hours or more
Most tutorials are less than 2 hours

Teaching Credentials & Certain Advanced Degrees*
$22.00 per hour for tutorials less than 2 hours
$20.50 per hour for tutorials 2 hours or more

* A higher pay rate applies to tutors who possess teaching credentials/certificates or certain advance degrees and work with our private clients not associated with the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) program. If offered a tutor position, you will be informed beforehand whether you will be working with private clients, or students enrolled through the NCLB program. Emergency teaching credentials/certificates are not valid. Tutors with any doctorate degree (excluding Juris Doctorate degrees), as well as tutors with a masters degree in education, mathematics, engineering, chemistry, biology and/or biochemistry will qualify for this higher pay rate, only if they work with our private clients. All degrees must be from institutions within the U.S.
