We are seeking a PHP Developer for Video that will be involved in building tools to manage the data on our TV and video platform. The candidate will utilize experience with LINUX and PHP, JSP, ASP, or other language used for building web based applications, in a LAMP environment. The Video Developer will perform: Front End / GUI Development, enhancement and maintenance of existing software modules, custom programming for clients and various data manipulation tasks.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Designing, developing and supporting rich-client software applications for use in managing TV/movie data
Co-designing the architecture for Synacor web services, applications, and tools for streamlining move title management
Development, documentation, and maintenance of cutting edge web-based applications in our portal and premium service platforms
Conversion of design documents into HTML interfaces
Deployment of client sites, including custom development, branding, and integration with our customersdiverse billing and provisioning systems
Providing technical consultation and expertise to Product Managers and other Synacor staff members
Writing technical and non-technical specifications and the documentation of procedures
Reviewing Product requirement documents as well as participating in integration calls with our partners
Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience; may direct the work of other staff members
May lead functional teams or projects
Other duties as assigned

What you’ll need to bring to the table:
A minimum of 2-5 years development experience in website development; proven experience developing large-scale database-driven applications
Professional experience developing tools to manage TV/video data: VAM (Video Asset Manager) and bit rate encoding experience required
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or the equivalent work experience
Ability to use best practices and knowledge of internal or external business issues to improve products or services
Ability to solve complex problems; takes a new perspective using existing solutions
In-depth knowledge and experience programming in a LAMP environment
Front-end development experience with HTML, JavaScript, CSS required
Experience with MySQL or equivalent
Familiar with Unix/Linux use, scripting and tools
Knowledge of XML, SOAP, Flash and AJAX highly desirable
Familiarity with revision control software
Excellent communication skills
Ability to collaborate
