SAT Instructors Needed (P/T)
South Asian Youth Action (SAYA!) is a non-profit community-based organization dedicated to creating social change and opportunities for South Asian youth to realize their fullest potential. Our programs include leadership development, academic support and college preparation, employment training and placement, sports and artistic opportunities, as well as counseling and general social support.
Position Summary: SAYA! seeks a highly motivated, creative and intelligent individual, committed to social change, to assist in developing and expanding its youth SAT preparation classes. SAYA!’s SAT prep classes are modeled and supported through Test Master Inc., a competitor to Kaplan and Princeton Review. Working closely with the Program Coordinator under the supervision of Program Director, the SAT instructors will be responsible for assisting with all aspects of the development, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of the SAT classes.
Responsibilities include:
1. Prepare lessons including quizzes and small group activities;
2. Assign homework each week and track completion of homework;
3. Track attendance and retention to ensure full enrollment at all times
4. Proctor in-class practice SAT exams
5. Create and distribute mini-report cards to track youth progress and identify areas of improvement
6. Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
1. Bachelors degree (Masters preferred).
2. Demonstrate ability to score at least 700 or higher on each section of the old SATs and clear understanding of the New SATs is a must.
3. Minimum1 year experience teaching or tutoring standardized US exams.
4. Must be available on weekdays from 2:00 pm. to 6:00 pm.
5. Excellent interpersonal and public speaking skills.
6. Highly organized; reliable with a “can doattitude.
Salary: $20-$25/hour depending on experience
Hours: 3 (includes one hour of prep time)
Days: One day a week
