The Youth Enrichment Programs! consist of two different programs, Phinney Ridge Kids! and Whittier Kids!
Phinney Ridge Kids! is located onsite at the Phinney Neighborhood Association. Phinney Ridge Kids! is a nationally accredited before and after school program for children in grades K-5. Phinney Ridge Kids! operates year round with full day camps during winter, spring and summer vacations and before and after school care during the school year. PRK! serves children from 15 different schools. Children are divided by age into two rooms/programs - - the red room serves children in grades K-2 and the blue room serves children in grades 3-5. 60% of the children at PRK! are children with special needs (primarily in the social, emotional and behavioral spectrums). PRK! provides an inclusive and individualized program for all children.
Whitter Kids! is located onsite at Whittier Elementary School in Ballard. Whittier Kids! provides a preschool program for children age 3-5, a kindergarten enrichment program for half day kindergarten children, and a before and after school program for children in grades K-5. Current openings are in the school age program. Whittier Kids! operates year round with full day camps during winter, spring and summer vacations and before and after school care during the school year. WK! serves children from Whittier School. Children are divided by age into two rooms/programs - - room 104 serves children in grades K-2 and room 214 serves children in grades 3-5.
We currently have positions available at both sites.
- Teacher (parttime) Mondays-Fridays 3-6pm

Position Title: PNA Youth Enrichment Programs! Teacher
Immediate Supervisor: PNA Youth Enrichment Programs! Site Supervisor
The PNA Youth Enrichment Programs! Teacher is responsible for the general supervision and management of the children in the Before and/or After School Program with the support and supervision of the Site Supervisor, Assistant Director and the Director.
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
A. General Teaching Responsibilities:
- Planning and implementation of a variety of age-appropriate and theme related activities to include music, art drama, crafts, games, dance, science/nature and sports.
- Provides complete monthly calendar to the Site Supervisor on time.
- Supervises and facilitates curriculum activities and areas to promote positive learning experiences for the children in a harmonious, safe and caring environment.
- Maintains appropriate standards for the children’s behavior using non-punitive methods that teaches self-discipline while supporting children’s self-esteem.
- Provides careful and concentrated supervision of play areas to insure children’s safety and learning.
- Promotes mutual respect and models problem solving skills.
- Gears the program to the needs of the individual child with concern for the child’s interests, special needs, special talents and individual style and pace of learning.
- Treats each child with dignity and respect.
- Familiar with minimum DSHS licensing requirements relating to classroom supervision, health and safety.
- Consults with the Site Supervisor, Assistant Director or Director when difficult or unfamiliar situations arise.
B. Staff Responsibilities:
- Participates with other staff in daily room set-up and take down tasks.
- Assumes an equal share of the ordered arrangement appearance, décor and learning environment of the room.
- Fosters and maintains cooperative relationships with all other staff members.
- Conveys staff concerns to the Site Supervisor, to the Director or Assistant Director or if necessary, to the PNA Executive Director.
C. Community Relations:
- Interacts positively and constructively with parents.
- Maintains a professional personal appearance as representative to the public for the enrichment program.
- Builds strong community bonds through cooperation and collaboration with the Phinney Preschool Coop, and other PNA programs.
- Assists with public-relations events sponsored by PNA Youth Enrichment Programs!
D. Administrative Responsibilities:
- Provides the Site Supervisor and the Assistant Director with timely input on needed program supplies and materials.
- Coordinates with PNA programs as needed with regard to the use of space.
- Assists the Director in short and long range planning
- Attends all staff meetings and trainings.
- Other duties as assigned.
HOURS: 15 hrs/wk - Monday Friday 3-6:00pm. Additional hours for meeting, planning or special projects may be requested from the Site Supervisor.
SALARY AND BENEFITS: $11-14/hour

EVALUATIONS: Employee performance will be evaluated on an informal ongoing basis throughout the time of employment to build skills and through formal evaluations as per the PNA personnel policies.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Experience and proven success working with school-age children (ages 5-14).
- Enthusiasm and interest in working with school-age children (ages 5-14).
- Ability to practice non-punitive discipline methods.
- Approval of Washington State Criminal Records Check.
- Current certification of CPR, First Aid and AIDS Education instruction.
- Documented negative TB test.
- Food Handler’s Permit.
Location: Phinney Ridge & Ballard
Compensation: $11-14/hour
