Kalki Koechlin was born to French parents

Another foreigner in Bollywood, Kalki Koechlin is the new-age Chandramukhi in Dev. D , directed by Anurag Kashyap .

Kalki was born to French parents and was based in Bangalore before getting a chance to debut in a Bollywood film. Prior to auditioning for her role, all she knew was that Chandramukhi was glamorous and that she was a prostitute.

But the 25-year-old admits that it’s an interesting and challenging role. Her name in the movie is Chanda, who is a high profile escort and meets the drug addict Dev, played by Abhay Deol .
