Life Story
Unlike most supermodels, Lujan Fernandez was first a child star on TV in her country of Argentina. At the age of 14, she was discovered on a beach in Uruguay by a modeling agent. She begged her parents to let her try fashion modeling, and they reluctantly agreed. By the age of 18, she decided to move to New York, where she could focus more on her career.
She did runway shows for Ralph Lauren and was soon featured in print ad campaigns for Perry Ellis, Victoria's Secret, Chloe and XOXO. In 2000, she appeared in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue along side Kylie Bax, Laetitia Casta and Yamila Diaz-Rahi. She returned to the magazine again the following year. Since then, she's been dedicated to her career and working non-stop almost every day. She has been on the cover of Elle, GQ, Harper's Bazaar and Vogue.
However, in 2007, she apparently has dropped out of the fashion spotlight. She has given no reason for the recent break, though she did tell one reporter that while acting would greatly interfere with her modeling career, she hoped to return to TV or films sometime in the future.
