Senior Security Engineer
Description
The Senior Security Engineer works within ControlScan’s customer support area, acting as a resource for other support agents and interacting directly with customers to resolve issues of above-average complexity. Support activity revolves around scanning and security services provided to customers including detection of vulnerabilities and their remediation.
Responsibilities
Validate the scoping of complex vulnerability and web application scanning engagements
Assess and approve/reject scanning false positive claims that are not obvious or clear cut
Support penetration testing of web applications on a consulting engagement basis
Investigate breaches and suspected breaches claimed by scanning customers
Participate in the ongoing improvement of the scanning and vulnerability remediation processes
Provide introductory/ongoing network security training to support team members
Qualifications and Skills
Minimum 4 years experience in IT or technical support role
Minimum 2 years experience in customer service role
Experience with network security technologies (IPS/IDS, firewalls, policy management)
Experience with application hosting and system/network administration previous system administration experience
Experience with web application scanning, including zero-day vulnerabilities
Familiarity with Nessus feeds
Familiarity with network concepts (TCP/IP, layers, routing, etc.)
Familiarity with ethical hacking
Knowledge of vulnerability research resources
Knowledge of penetration testing methodologies
Knowledge of open security testing standards and projects, including OWASP
