POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

The Washington State Beef Commission is seeking qualified applicants for a Consumer Information program manager position. This is a permanent, full-time position that requires travel and some evening and weekend work to coordinate events and participate in meetings.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The program manager should be a personable, creative individual possessing excellent communications skills. The successful candidate will be self-disciplined, flexible and possess strong problem-solving capabilities. Preference is given to the candidate with three or more years of experience and a Bachelors degree or advanced in marketing, public relations, nutrition, or food/meat science. Having a general knowledge of the beef industry is beneficial, but not required.
DESIRED SKILLS:
Excellent writing and editing skills.
Proficient in public speaking.
Enjoys food, understands nutrition and has the ability to demonstrate beef cookery to various audiences.
Solid computer skills including expertise in social marketing and web site editing.
Possesses an aptitude for detail and design to assist in the development of marketing materials, trade show exhibits and publications.
Ambitious, flexible, team-player with a “can doattitude.
Ability to work independently on both program development and implementation.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Consumer Information program manager implements programs that improve consumer attitudes about beef as outlined in the Washington State Beef Commission marketing plan. Activities include but are not limited to:
Develop and implement consumer information programs as outlined in the marketing plan.
Coordinate involvement in conventions, trade shows and consumer events including coordinating sponsorships, partnerships and exhibit design and set up.
Maintain relationships with state and national beef promotion organizations to successfully extend national consumer information programs in Washington state.
Maintain effective communications with consumers directly and through health professionals, educators and the media. Implement outreach campaigns to strengthen beef’s position as a healthful, safe and sustainable product.
Update and maintain the Washington State Beef Commission website.
Plan, write and edit newsletters, news releases, website copy and other communication materials.
Maintain computer databases and mailing lists; coordinate print schedules and direct mail efforts.
Represent the Beef Commission at meetings, conferences and trade shows as directed by the Executive Director.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Must be a beef consumer.
Posses a valid drivers license.
Must be available for travel on nights and weekends.
Must be willing and able to lift 25 pounds, wheel, move and carry materials.
Salary negotiated based on experience and education.
