JOB TITLE: Senior Art Director | Roja
SUPERVISOR: Executive Creative Director | Rauxa Roja
SUMMARY: Responsible for providing creative direction, design and production of concepts for the Rauxa Roja (Hispanic market) division in Costa Mesa. Candidate will accept creative briefs and work with the account service and Roja creative strategy team to refine direction if required. Support the executive creative director in overall strategic and creative development for Hispanic (Bilingual) campaigns.
Will collaborate with the Rauxa Roja team that specializes in helping our clients to redefine and tap into the influential Hispanic market using integrated direct marketing strategies for multicultural communications. Where required, develop and execute concepts through rounds: from initial sketches, building comprehensives (comps) and taking artwork through to mechanicals. A leader and team player who enjoys creative collaboration finds innovative and creative solutions and works well under pressure.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for the creation, conceptualization and design of campaigns and projects for (Roja) Hispanic Direct Marketing and any of the agency’s clients
Work closely with in-house or freelance copywriters to develop creative concepts
Ensure concepts developed by the agency are on strategy, practical and cost-effective to produce
Responsible providing creative direction and inspiration to the Costa Mesa creative team
Participate in the development of client strategy recommendations
Assist Executive Creative Director in creative strategy development
Lead and co-assist with presentations of creative work to clients
Provide direction to in-house and freelance production artists
Ensure the creative work of the agency is produced to the highest standards of accuracy and quality control
Art direct photo shoots as required
Ensure concepts, rounds and final mechanicals are accurate and error free, including file construction, organization and prepping of files for release
and printing
Remain up-to-date on the latest developments in software applications, printing techniques and production technology
Maintain archives of final mechanicals and photography files
Skill Set/Knowledge:
Must have Spanish language proficiency: Demonstrate very good Spanish written and oral communication skills, including client presentations
Understanding of direct marketing practices and database principles, along with knowledge of direct marketing production techniques
Solid creative skills with very good conceptual, visual and writing skills with the ability to give direction to both in-house and freelance creative teams
High level of understanding in art direction and graphic design, including page layout, typography and illustration
Very highly skilled and efficient in the use of InDesign, QuarkXpress,
Illustrator, and Photoshop
Ability to develop good client relationships as and when required
Work on a multitude of projects simultaneously from inception to completion
Proven management and leadership skills
Excellent conceptual and design skills
Proactive and able to work with minimal supervision
Highly organized, able to adapt quickly to changing priorities, and simultaneously handle multiple projects with total accuracy
Work well as a team player in a flexible, dynamic and fast-paced environment
Highly motivated self-starter with a can-do attitude
Education/Experience:
BA/BS Marketing or Communications degree;
Minimum of 6 years direct marketing agency experience
at art director level or above
5+ years of Hispanic-relevant marketing experience with an advertising or direct marketing agency, or in-house direct marketing department
Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects and strict deadlines
Outstanding organizational and project/personnel management skills
Wide ranging portfolio focused on direct marketing campaigns with a strong print emphasis including conceptual, design and production expertise.
