Youre right. Reagan did allow amnesty in the 1980s (I think it was 1986 to be exact, but I could be off by a year or two). Its the only thing that he did that I vehemently disagreed with, and I still disagree with it to this day. It sent a message to the future illegals that at some point they would get to live and work in this country without having to go through the proper channels of immigration.
So, through the prism of actual, real-life experience we can see what granting amnesty does to "help" or "solve" the illegal immigration crisis: NOTHING! The current politicians, Republican, Democrat, Independent, Green Party, Communist, Socialist, etc. are all responsible for the current situation. This problem cuts across party lines and doesnt depend on the TV news channel that you choose to watch. We are being overrun by illegals who are bankrupting health care systems, using public services without paying for them, and degrading the quality of life of the legal residents and citizens of this country. Dont believe me Take a trip to California, Arizona, New Mexico, or Texas. The crap storm that has hit those states is rolling toward the rest of the country like a swarm of killer bees.
The solution Deport every last f***ing one of the illegal bastards and their anchor babies. Of course, theres not a politician in the nation who would back this philosophy, because they all want the sacred Hispanic vote. The country is a mess because of the illegals, and nobody is willing to do a damn thing about it. It makes me sick.
Note to illegal immigrants who may be reading this: Leave my country! Get the hell out! Return to your homeland and wait in line like all of the people with integrity and dignity. The vast majority of legal citizens and residents of the USA do not--repeat, DO NOT--want you or the babies that spring from your loins to inhabit our country. Go back to where you came from and infect that place with your sub-standard way of life.
