First off I want to say....totally against the killing of ANYTHING!!! Kill a cat to save a bird. Yeah that makes a lot of sense.
That being said, you guys are thinking to small. No one is talking about shooting a cat in Edina or Woodbury. They are not peoples cats that are in your back yard under a swing set that is owned by a 5yr old little girl next door. These are wild cats that live on farm or fields outside the "cities" a ways. They run wild everywhere. Farms have populations in the dozens, if not more.
Catch and spay First off, ever try to catch a cat that doesnt want to be caught Good luck with that.
You know the cost it would take to spay them Yikes. Who has that kind of dough. And these arent the farmers cats. These are cats people open a car door and push out because they no longer want, so they breed in the nearest shelter they can find, i.e. the barn.
Catch them and give them to the humane society or other shelter I dont know if you heard, but they are full up. (And they tend to kill 90% or more, hate to say)
So whats the answer
First: Castrate a piece of shit that shoots a cat. Youre not helping, no matter what your redneck ass thinks. Cant say the last time I saw a cat with a pheasant hanging out of its mouth. Dont be stupid. And to kill a cat because it kills the birds you want to kill Try hitting the grocery store for food like sane people in 2009. But I digress.... I wont start the hunting debate with some Neanderthal who takes a shotgun out to blast a bird that weighs a bit over 2 ounces and then justifies it by saying they use it for food.
Take responsibility for your pets, get them spayed or neutered. Dont get a cat unless you REALLY want one and know that its a long, long and expensive commitment. Blah Blah.
