The system is direct drive and does not use belts, pulleys, hubs, shaft collars or adapters. The machine table is a massive iron foundry casting and the skate holder consists of steel investment castings.I originally bought this for taking care ofmine and my 2 sons hockey skates for the past 12 years. The kids are grownup and gone and 1 hip replacement later , I think it is done serving my family.
