For those of you who may need some help by way of mechanics (grammar, spelling, punctuation, etc.), its a good investment to hire a professional editor, especially if you plan to submit your manuscript to a publisher. Though even a perfectly written manuscript may not always get accepted the first time around, it can at least impress the publisher into allowing your foot in the door. Even a terrific story, if not written with clean mechanics, can turn someone off to reading it.
When you feel your manuscript is ready for it, please think of me for the copyediting/proofreading of your piece. I also critique the actual content (plot, characterization, etc.) upon request, and I give tips on how you can begin the process of submitting to publishers. I can also assist with academic theses and dissertations.
My typical fee is $1.50 per page (no extra charges for critiquing or for publishing tips). A "page" is defined as the standard 8.5" x 11" with 1" margins all around, Times New Roman, 12 pt font, single-spaced. I charge by the number of pages sent to me in this format, not the number of pages it ends up being as a result of my revisions.
